Most flights into Saint Martin arrive at St. Maarten Princess Juliana International Airport. This airport is located on Sint Maarten, which is the Dutch side of the island.
There is public transportation on Saint Martin, and buses run daily between 5 a.m. and midnight, but do not have a set schedule. The best way to get around the island is by taxi, or by renting a vehicle, which can be done at or near St. Maarten Princess Juliana International Airport. In addition, there are bicycles available for rental throughout the island.
The best time of year to visit St. Martin and St. Martin is between May and June, or between November and mid-December.
Saint Martin is well-known for its watersports, with surfing, windsurfing, jet-skiing, SUP, kayaking, sailing, flyboarding and deep-sea fishing all on offer. Wildlife buffs will enjoy the island's incredible biodiversity: several species of tropical tree frog, 60 migratory bird species, including herons, egrets, stilts, and pelicans, mongooses, and dozens of species of tropical fish and lizards — among other fauna — call the island home.
The island is known for its varied landscape, and you will be able to explore Saint Martin's lush, tropical forests, stunning seascapes, and, if you like, hike to the top of Pic Paradis to marvel at the stunning views of this island paradise. Outdoor sports enthusiasts will also enjoy mountain or quad biking around the island, or taking in a game of golf on one of Saint Martin's many lush courses.
Of course, no visit to the island is complete without time spent on its famous white-sand beaches. Saint Martin often draws Hollywood stars and other celebrities, due to its beautiful — and often secluded — beaches and coves. Stretch out and relax by some of the most incredible, emerald-blue waters on the planet.
Saint Martin is known for its cuisine, and is often called the French culinary capital of the Caribbean. The island's colonial French has influenced its food culture, so you will be able to enjoy traditional French fare and fusion cuisine, where French culinary techniques meet the island's Creole roots.
Fresh fish and seafood are often the cornerstones of meals on Saint Martin; whelk soup, crab backs, and conch and dumplings — the island's national dish — are must-tries. Another must-try: Guavaberry liqueur, which is made right on the island.
The dry season on Saint Martin runs from December to April, and the winter runs from May to November. June to December is often considered the rainy season. Temperatures are mild year-round: the average temperature during the cooler months is around 25 degrees Celsius, and in the warmer months, the average temperature hovers around 28 degrees Celsius.
