Luxury Villa Rentals for 2+ people
Located in the heart of the Caribbean, the US Virgin Islands (USVI) – St Thomas, St John, and St Croix – are some of the most beautiful island destinations anywhere. USVI villas elevate your appreciation of these stunning landscapes with comfortable, sustainable stays that honor this area’s rich heritage.
Originally inhabited by the Arawak and Carib people, USVI was colonized by the Spanish, Dutch, English, French, and Danish before being purchased by the US in 1917. This rich history gives USVI a distinct cultural profile.
The tourist boom of the 20th century saw USVI villas being constructed across all three islands. And because hotel development is limited - particularly on St John, which is mostly designated parkland - these villas often offer a glimpse of USVI that you simply can’t get any other way.
Renting a luxury villa in USVI is easy with Rental Escapes. First, choose your travel dates. Next, choose your party size. From there, your Rental Escapes Villa Specialist will happily present you with the best available USVI villas for your group. After, your Concierge customizes your trip, including transportation, chef service, boat charters, excursions, and more.
Independently owned and operated, USVI luxury villas elevate your trip with unique stays. From modern beach houses to cliffside manors, each villa has its own story to tell.
USVI villas can be found all across St John, USVI’s prettiest island comprised of 60% national parkland. You can also find them in the shopping hub of St Thomas and the more Caribbean-flavored St Croix.
No matter where you choose to stay, expect modern constructions that blend in seamlessly with their surroundings. You can also expect 5-star service, including from your Rental Escapes Concierge.
For many, the beach is one of the top reasons to visit USVI. And with their strategic location right along the shoreline, these US Virgin Islands beachfront rentals will get you as close to the soft sand and calm water as possible. They include:
One Perfect Day: Just steps from the beautiful Little Magen’s Beach in St Thomas, One Perfect Day is a 9-bedroom villa that’s ideal for active families. It features two pools, a game room, a gym, a beach bar, two grills, a gated entry, and direct beach access. Enjoy the vacation of a lifetime.
Sand Dollar Estate: Set across 2.5 acres on Magen’s Bay, this estate is comprised of Sand Dollar, Little Sand Dollar, and Bungalows, accommodating up to 30 guests in total. That said, it is available to rent as either a 6-bedroom, 9-bedroom, or 11-bedroom. Either way, you’ll enjoy complete seclusion, a wealth of luxury amenities, and the warm blue water of the sea.
Sunset Beach: A typical Caribbean beach house set on the rocky shores of Chocolate Hole, Sunset Beach is one of the few beachfront villas on St John. It’s also located just off a small cove that’s great for snorkeling and beachcombing.
At over 60% national parkland, St John is home to lush, stunning landscapes. Luxury villas in St John USVI tend to be located along the cliffs, letting you take in all the beauty around you. They include:
Eco Serendib: Featured in publications like the Robb Report and Travel & Leisure, everything about Eco Serendib is tailored to the highest standards. Touches like a saltwater pool, fitness center, Sodashi spa, billiards and more ensure that every aspect of your well-being is looked after. A new standard for eco villas.
Solenborg: Seen in Architectural Digest, Solenborg stuns with the contrast between its rocky façade and its lush surroundings. Within, the rich materials and warm colors evoke a relaxing, serene atmosphere. It’s all punctuated by 5-star service to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
A La Mer: Waterfront on Cruz Bay, A La Mer offers a beach-like experience thanks to its oceanfront artificial beach, including soft white sand and what is possibly the largest private pool in St John. Additional touches like artistic stonework, stunning suites, an outdoor living room, and snorkeling right off the side of the villa make this a great choice for families.
Cruz Bay is where ferries land in St John and is the heart of island life, with shops, restaurants, and bars. Cruz Bay rentals let you take advantage of this convenient location while still offering plenty of privacy. They include:
Estate Rose: Located between Great Cruz Bay and Chocolate Hole and overlooking Pillsbury Sound, Estate Rose is a 1.1-acre villa that combines classical elegance with jaw-dropping views and modern amenities. From the gorgeous stonework to the private pool area, every facet of this villa is well thought out.
Coqui: Perched atop a hillside and offering stunning views of St Thomas, Coqui is an intimate three-bedroom home that is at one with nature while still being close to the convenience of Cruz Bay. Take in the sounds of chirping frogs. Soak in the island views from the pool. Relax in the richly furnished suites. This is your time.
Altagracia: A classic Caribbean-style villa, Altagarcia is surrounded by a string of decks, tied together by an oversized pool and outdoor dining area. It also features an island motif and little touches like hammocks to gaze at the sunset. A relaxing and intimate choice for up to 8 guests.
Visitors from the US do not need a passport to enter USVI. Those from other countries must present a valid passport on entry. Visitors from outside Canada, the EU, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand may need an additional tourist visa as well.
The majority of travelers fly into USVI. USVI has two major airports: Cyril E. King Airport (STT) on St Thomas and Henry E. Roshlen Airport (STX) on St Croix. Both serve international and domestic flights. Ferries connect St Thomas, St John, and St Croix. Your Concierge can assist with airport transfers and ferry tickets.
The best way to get around USVI is by rental car. Renting a car will allow you to explore the island at your own pace. If you’re in St John, a jeep or SUV is recommended. Taxis and private drivers are also available on all three islands. Your Concierge can assist with rental cars, taxis, private drivers, and any other transportation need.
Peak season in USVI runs from December to April. This is when the weather is mildest, with blue skies and balmy temperatures. However, it’s also when crowds are at their peak.
Shoulder season runs from May to August. The weather is still great, but there are fewer tourists, so you have more of the island to yourself. This is a favorite time for many to visit USVI.
Off-season is from September to November. This is when rainfall is at its peak, though it is usually relegated to afternoon showers. Those who do go at this time get to experience life as a local and see a more laid-back side of the islands.
USVI is considered safe for travelers. Crime rates are especially low on St John. That said, exercise caution with water activities and sun exposure.
Explore St John: St John is home to over 7,000 acres of protected parkland, with lush forests, pristine beaches, and vibrant reefs. There are also scenic trails like Reef Bay Trail or Ram Head Trail to hike.
Take in the history: Whether it’s Blackbeard’s Castle and Fort Christian on St Thomas, Annaberg Plantation on St John, or Fort Christiansvaern on St Croix, USVI is home to a rich history. Dive in and experience it firsthand.
Charter a boat: USVI is a boating hub. Think island hopping, world-class snorkeling, stunning boat tours to hidden beaches, and diving into turquoise waters. Speak to your Concierge for boat charter suggestions.
The food in USVI is a delightful mix of Caribbean, American, and European influences. There’s a big emphasis on fresh seafood, with specialties including fish tacos, seafood ceviche, and conch fritters. Local delicacies also include saltfish, fungi, pates, johnny cakes, and kallaloo soup. You’ll also find a variety of international cuisine from talented chefs.
Your Rental Escapes Concierge can also add private chef service and villa pre-stocking to any stay.
USVI benefits from a tropical climate, with a mild dry season and a more humid wet season.
Spring sees mild weather in anticipation of summer, with temperatures gradually rising from 79°F (26°C) to 87°F (31°C). There’s also a moderate level of precipitation, averaging 2.5 inches (63.5 mm) in March and increasing slightly by May.
Summer brings warm tropical weather but with increased rainfall. Temperatures hover between 80°F (27°C) and 90°F (32°C), with precipitation averaging 2.5 to 3.5 inches (63.5 to 89 mm) per month.
Fall sees temperatures start to fall, but with a peak of rain at the beginning of the season. Temperatures range from 79°F (26°C) to 88°F (31°C), but precipitation peaks, especially in September and October, with averages climbing to 5.5 inches (140 mm) or more.
Winter sees the mildest and most moderate weather of all. Temperatures range from 77°F (25°C) to 83°F (28°C) and precipitation is at its lowest, with monthly averages of around 2 inches (50 mm).
