Peak season in Siracusa is from June to August. The weather is perfect for the beach, events and festivals are in full swing, and there’s a lively atmosphere. That said, crowds and prices are also highest at this time, and you need to book in advance.
Shoulder season is from April to May and September to October. The weather is still pleasant and there are fewer tourists. This is a great time for sightseeing and outdoor activities.
Off season is from November to March. The weather is cooler, and there are fewer tourists. This is a good time to experience Siracusa as a local, and you’ll have more of the sites to yourself.

Siracusa is considered a safe destination. It has a low crime rate and good services. That said, do watch out for pickpocketing near crowded tourist sites, and be mindful of sun exposure in the summer.

Take in the Neapolis Archaeological Park: Here you’ll find one of the oldest Greek theatres in the world, and one that still regularly host shows today. You can also explore the ruins of an ancient Roman amphitheater, as well as the Ear of Dionysius – a limestone cave known for its excellent acoustics.
Relax at the beach: The Siracusa area is home to some gorgeous beaches. They include Arenella Beach, with its golden sand and clear water, and Fontane Bianche, with its white sand and vibrant beach bars.

Siracusa reflects the rich culinary traditions that Sicily is known for. As a coastal city, there’s a big emphasis on fresh seafood. Swordfish, tuna, squid, octopus, and sardines are especially popular. You can also get plenty of traditional Sicilian dishes, like arancini, caponata, pasta alla norma, and pasta con le sarde. Spring in Siracusa is mild and pleasant. In March, the average temperatures range from 10°C to 17°C (50°F to 63°F), increasing to 14°C to 23°C (57°F to 73°F) by May. Rainfall decreases as the season progresses, averaging around 40-50 mm (1.6-2 inches) in March and dropping to 20-30 mm (0.8-1.2 inches) in May.
Summer in Siracusa is hot and sunny, perfect for beachgoers and outdoor enthusiasts. Average temperatures range from 21°C to 30°C (70°F to 86°F) in June, peaking at 24°C to 35°C (75°F to 95°F) in July and August. Rainfall is minimal, with June seeing around 10-20 mm (0.4-0.8 inches) and virtually no rain in July and August.
Autumn in Siracusa is warm and pleasant, gradually cooling down from the summer. In September, temperatures range from 20°C to 28°C (68°F to 82°F), dropping to 14°C to 21°C (57°F to 70°F) by November. Rainfall begins to increase, with September averaging 30-40 mm (1.2-1.6 inches) and November seeing around 70-90 mm (2.8-3.5 inches).
Winter in Siracusa is mild and wet, with cooler temperatures and increased rainfall. Average temperatures range from 8°C to 16°C (46°F to 61°F) in December, staying relatively stable through February. Rainfall is at its peak, with December and January averaging around 80-100 mm (3.1-3.9 inches) each month, while February sees slightly less at around 60-80 mm (2.4-3.1 inches).
