The perfect getaway; set in nature and the soul of life. This Historic property provides an unforgettable level of luxury and service for your escape to the Wine Country. This five bedroom home has access to additional bedrooms in an adjoining property making for a large estate able to host up to 12 guests.

Nestled among giant redwoods born centuries ago, on a ridge straddling both the Napa and Sonoma Valleys you will find Calistoga Hideout: 15 minutes to the center of either the Sonoma Valley or Calistoga and the Napa Valley. The towering trees create a virtual cathedral encircling the house reaching over 200 feet to the heavens; humbling with their length of limb as equally with their length of life. Set on a sunny, south-facing knoll above a gurgling, mountain brook is an incomparable lodging experience.

There is a 60-foot rise and 200-foot distance from the bridge and parking lot to the entry of the house perched over the creek. There are several options to walk the 'fit-bit' hill and we provide an electric cart for guests' use to travel the short distance with ease.

A 75-foot long deck cantilevers over Humbug Creek with redwoods growing right through it. The large fire-pit in the backyard is the perfect place to gather and share tall tales and review the adventures of the day. The hot tub is state of the art with customizable jets providing true hydrotherapy massage. *Please note in the rainy season (typically November to March or April) outdoor cushions are stored.

Your own private movie theater awaits - also doubles as a video conference center - affording 12 foot wide front projection and surround sound. There is a video library of all the classic westerns and documentaries of the wild west as well as a broad selection of contemporary films.

The level of comfort is like none other. Each of the historically appointed bedrooms has its own private bathroom. The great room, with walls of reclaimed redwood, soars to 26 feet above the floor. An adjacent wine bar and game room offers two wine towers, full regulation billiards, and poker tables with wide-screen TV and surround sound. The public spaces are vast and afford numerous opportunities for additional daybeds in a variety of nooks scattered about the building.

Everything is reclaimed, repurposed, and antique - if only the furnishings could talk what stories they could tell!! We have walnut cabinets from early Philadelphia in the billiards room, hand-made European doors of the late 1800s throughout, live edge redwood from the western shores of Sonoma County, fir plank flooring reclaimed from the abandoned Mare Island Naval Base at the North End of the San Francisco Bay. The artwork, sculpture, and objects displayed throughout the house come from rural America - all true antiques and mementos of life in the late 19th century.

We are a short drive into either the town of Calistoga or the city of Santa Rosa. This affords you convenient access to wineries, restaurants, and all the other attractions of both iconic valleys. And, if preferred, there will be no need to leave as we can bring the wine country to you: wine tastings from the best cult wineries, wine pairings with amazing appetizers, musical entertainment, wine education classes, gorgeous hiking, yoga, or Pilates classes on the deck. The onsite experts can stock the refrigerators with a noteworthy collection of small production, cult wines only available here in Napa ~ Sonoma. Further, we have a full-time caretaker and an IT expert who both live nearby, and numerous staff monitor a guest assistance line.

We fly under the flag of the trailblazing naturalist, John Muir. Father of national parks and founder of the Sierra Club, we seek to foster what Mountain John famously said: "I care to live only to entice people to look at Nature's loveliness".

This property features a majestic circular swimming pool under the trees. It is chlorine-free and can be heated for a fee. It is only 42" deep - thus safer for young children.
